Hello all,

Where is the speaker, which gives a beep on boot, located? Since I started building my own computer (I'm on my second) I've never heard a beep during boot up.

I was under the impression that it is on your motherboard and only beeps if there is a problem, however I really started reading overclocking guides and they've made me a bit confused regarding this speaker.

Thanks in advance.

My computer beeps when its first switched on, but then the one I'm using here at work doesnt, but its a dell so god knows if its meant to or not...

The speaker/buzzer is usually supplied as part of the case. It is then connected to the motherboard in the same way that the power switch and other such front pannel devices are.

Not all cases come with one, especially the cheaper ones, so it may be that you just havent got one. Have a good look around the case for any wires that arent connected, but if its there it should be fairly obvious. Your motherboard manual will tell you where to connect it to.

Hope that helps!

PK!

there should have been a bunch of cables on the case which should connect to the motherboard. If you still have the manual that came with your case, you should read it and find out which cable it is and which socket it goes into.

the speaker cable usually goes onto the section of sockets that you used to connect the power and reset cables.

Thanks. My case is NZXT Lexa. I'm 99% certain there isn't a speaker on the case. I've looked around it and cannot see anything.

I've emailed NZXT to ask them, in case it's hidden.
