i was using my system on thursday night when at 8.15pm the power in the street cutout.

the workmen turned up and got the power working at 5am on friday morning.

when i came home from work on friday i switched my system on with no joy, i have found the fault which is the graphics card.

can anyone help me with making a claim against the electric board, as its not my fault.

thanks in advance

I would have thought you house contents insurance would cover something like this but it may not be worth the claim as your premium will go up next time you renew.

I would also buy a decent surge protector though in case this should happen again. If you were using surge protection, some of the decent ones have guarantees that you could claim from.

thanks for the advice but i use a surge protector and i refuse to use my house insurance as its not my fault as i stated before.

Does your surge protector not have a sticker on it or something on it that says that you're protected against damages up to some ridiculous amount like Marmoset said? I see them everywhere saying they'll pay up to X amount of money if there's an electrical fault and your equipment gets damaged, so I mean you oculd try contacting the company who made your surge protector and see if they'll give you any help
