Anything that I have missed, or could change?

Motherboard is my main concern, would I be better off spending the extra £50 on one with a P35 chipset like the Asus P5K?

Although I don't plan on going SLI or upgrading the CPU/RAM any time soon either, so is there any significant performance gain on the newer board?

Very powerful machine you have there. Have you compared vista 32bit and 64 bit? Also the OEM will be tied to the motherboard, so make sure your 100% ont he board, or will cost you a new license.

Nothing too wrong with the spec tbh, I'll change that mobo to P35-DS3R for the same price though, it doesn't give you any performance increase as such but it will support future Penryn chips as well as DDR3. Besides the P35 chipset is a better overclocker, or so I've heard.

You might want to wait until the Intel price cut next month when the quad-core chips will be a helluva lot cheaper.

Also many people will suggest the WD5000AAKS HDDs instead as they are fast, quiet & cool.

If you dont use applications that take advantage of 4 cores, a Quad Core is no better than a Dual Core.

By the time applications, games etc.. actually use four cores, they will be much cheaper.

I have 64Bit Vista running on my Shuttle at the moment and its been a bit of a pain in the arse, drivers are a bit ropey, and some older bits of software just refuse to run on it :(

I was concerned that if I went to somthing such as an E6600 the CPU would bottleneck the GFX card quite a bit, mostly playing Supreme Commander at the moment and would like to be able to run it at my monitors native 1920x1200 res ;) although if an E6600 would do that fine then yer it can go and I will go quad core later on.

I originally had the WD500 AAKS drives in the spec but noticed that the Segates were on offer when I went to put them into the basket, they are exactly the same cost tho, so will probably revert back to the WD drives.
