Hi all,

I'm building a new system using an Antec 900 case and a spare 800W Enermax PSU I have floating around at home. I'm looking to overclock a Q6600 to 3ghz for gaming/multimedia use, some video encoding also. Here's what i've come up with:

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £97.51
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) £68.14
Leadtek GeForce 8800 GT ZL OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) £146.86
Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus Black Multi Fan Controller £25.84
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) £17.61
Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200S 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter £18.79
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.40GHz Guaranteed to run at 3.00GHZ (1333FSB) £162.14

Total £536.89 inc. VAT

Any suggestions? I'm looking for as quiet as possible - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro OK for quietness as well as cooling? Will the RAM i've chosen be OK to overclock at to this speed?

Thanks all, appreciate any replies or suggestions :)

As far as your choice of HSF yes it is quiet i had one on my AMD system till recently (fan finally stopped working)
your cpu chioce from other threads 90% of the Q6600 G0 stepping cpu's will all easily clock past 3 Ghz so i would same money and get the standard Q6600 retail as its only £3-£4 dearer than the oem version but you get the 3 year warranty.

I have the same CPU and RAM. I have mine overclocked to 3.6GHz with a Tuniq Tower.

The RAM doesn't overclock well but will be fine for what you want to do. Mine is running at 800Mhz (9*400fsb) but won't budge anymore!
