hi guys

first time posting :(

i would like to know your recomendations on a first time build, and a fast pc,
i would like a highly overclockable rig (which would be first time clocking)and it would be used for a lot of online gaming, photo editing dvd encoding + a few other things,

price always comes down to things but would make exceptions but would like to go crossfire as i have a x1800xt already waiting on a master though,

any suggestions on what to get or the best way to go about it,

at the moment i have a dell 8400 3gz processor 2gb ram and my graphics card in it, but apart from the card that i want to keep i would like a new build!

i was looking at this case as i liked the look of it but something that standsout and looks good would acpect,

Thermaltake Tsunami Aluminium Black Case with Window - No PSU

help would be very much welcomed

thanks

Welcome!

Is that a LGA775 P4 3Ghz in your dell?? Is that 2Gb DDR2s?? If it's DDR2 you maybe able to use it for your new rig.

Not sure what your budget is:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
£93.99 (£110.44)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
£13.99 (£16.44)

DFI Infinity 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
£89.99 (£105.74)

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £61.99 (£72.84)

Sub Total : £259.96
Shipping : £8.95
Vat : £47.06
Total : £315.97

If you need new RAM then put in a Geil 2Gb PC6400C4 as well, which adds additional £160.

If you really want crossfire then go for that DFI or the ASUS P5W DH but I think it's not worth it because X1800 mastercard is very rare and expensive, for the price you might as well go 2* X1950pro which doesn't require mastercard to xfire, or better still save up for single 8800 or R600 early next year which will destroy the X1800 xfire set up. Depends on what games you play at what resolution a single X1800 is still very powerful.

If OC is your main focus then go for 965 chipset, Gigabyte S3 / DS3 is cheap, simple and highly ocable, If you are willing to pay more then go ASUS P5B-Deluxe or Gigabyte DQ6 which also feature 2 16* PCI-E sockets though I'm not sure if they will run xfire yet.
