Hi.
anyone know if the above new graphics card will run ok with the following system spec...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.1
Abit AW9D-MAX intel 975X (Socket 775)
Geil 2GB PC6400 800Mhz DDR2
Weston Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM
OCZ GameXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 PSU
Windows Vista 32

if not what upgrades would you recommend?

thanks

i got a simerlar system.

get ya cpu clocked up a bit, and then the job should b fine, what gfx card ya got now?

with my cpu @ 3.6ghz i @ 1280x1024 crysis benchmark with my 2900xt i got 32 fps

with my cpu @ 2.4ghz @ 1280 again witha 4870x2 i got 48fps

with my cpu @ 3.5ghz @ 1280, 4780x2 i got 62fps so cpu does really bottle neck this card if youv not got it clocked up, i normally run 3.8ghz but i reset bios when installing card just incase. so ill get it up tonight and see what i get :)

edit, all was run on dx9 high with a few very high stuff in cvar configs

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

Iceshock do you have that e6600 under water thats a very nice overclock there. Mine starts to give me problems around 3ghz but i am a bit of a noob at overclocking with cpu's. My temps are all in the low 50's under load at 3ghz so i know it ain't that. Maybe just need to up the v-core some more to get it more stable above 3ghz. Think mine is quit an early version though.

nope its just a lapped cpu with a scythe ninja cooler on, but im going to get a thermalright ultra cause at 3.8ghz it maxs out 70c after 4 hrs prime.

in games it only reaches about 55-60c max but when i was priming i had a huge deskfan on as well to keep my pc cool, but without my deskfan and side of my case on etc i get 55-60 c in games so its all good

Make sure your PSU can support the power requirements on the 12V Rail. 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

So 500w psu is the minimum for a 4870X2?

Thinking about getting a 4870x2 after I installed one in my m8's machine the other day, blew my gfx card away big time and the image quality was better too. I have a Seasonic M12 Modular 700W power supply, the only thing that worrys me is that is does not come with the modular cable for the 8pin pcie connector that a 4870x2 requires. I have got an adaptor thing that turns a 6pin into an 8pin but was concerned that this may not be safe for long term use.
whats ppls thoughts on this?

same question here..... will the HIS version even come with an adator or will i have to buy one? my PSU only comes with 2 x 6pin (OCZ GameXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 PSU). new psu in order or will i manage?
