system clock losing time - not bios battery related

Bunging this in General Hardware as I don't think it's defintiely motherboard issue....

I have a gigabyte x370 gaming 5 motherboard and the system clock is losing time.
I've replaced the bios battery and tried with and without 'automatically adjust time' selected in windows. Have set time in bios directly but without fail the system clock loses time when the pc is turned off.
System is stable otherwise so I'm a tad baffled.

I should note this is the second of these boards I've had as the first spontaneously died. That one was also losing time and died about an hour after it started happening (might just have been a coincidence though)
It's been losing time for at least a week and hasn't died yet so hopefully that's not what's coming next!!

Anyone got ideas what might be going on?

Maybe try a different time server.

Someone said the motherboard time is maintained by a separate little piece of motherboard hardware. Is it possible you've just got a dodgy one?

Sorry meant to update the thread - above is exactly what I had to do.

The 'synchronise with an Internet server' was unticked. Once I ticked it and updated all so far seems to be fine.

It's possible a 3rd party piece of software is messing about with this setting for some reason. But thanks for reply anyway fella.

That'd be the bios/cmos battery you're thinking of (I think?!)
Hopefully doing the above has fixed the problem.

Separate to that I thought, although it's powered by the CMOS. Trying to think... I'll have a Google gander!
