Hi All, I'm using OcUK for the first time and planning on ordering a new Gaming PC through the System Configurator option, but fancied some advice from you guys before taking the plunge.

I'm going with the Intel X79 Sandybridge - E 10300i Configurator - Workstation & Gaming System and my budget is about £1600-1700 (inc VAT and accessories)

- Plantronics GameCom 380 Stereo Gaming Headset
- Samsung S24B300BS 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Glossy Black
- Tech Labs Zaward OEM 120mm Golf Ball fan SI
- Logitech G400 3600DPI Gaming Mouse
- Logitech K120 Keyboard
- Full Cable Management
- Asus PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter
- BitFenix Alchemy Premium Modding LED Strip - Connect Blue 30cm
- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM
- Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 650W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
- Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp - OEM
- OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
- Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM - OcUK GeForce GTX 670 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
- Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit
- Asus P9X79 PRO Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
- Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Silver (Socket LGA 2011/1155/1156/1366/775/AMD AM2/2+/AM3)
- Stage 1: Overclock of CPU - 10% Overclock (Processor speed x1.10)
- Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail
- NZXT Phantom Enthusiast USB3.0 Full Tower Case - Black

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also will there being any assembly required once I received the system or will it be completely constructed by OcUK?

Are you open to building the machine yourself as this will save more money. The X79/LGA2011 platform, while good, is pretty much overkill for 90% of people. You could save more by going for a LGA 1555/Ivy Bridge i7.

What will be the main uses for this spec? Are you likely to be running any intensive software, video editing/rendering.

Only thing you'll need to do is intall the gfx card. The system i got it was left out to stop any damage in transit.

Hi there,

As you are mainly wanting to game, unless you want the best of the best, I would recommend going for the Z77 configurator, as X79 does not give enough benefits durings gaming to justify the extra cost.

The GTX 670 is a great card too, they overclock well.
