Hi, I've got a bit of a problem with my system. The other day I was playing a game and suddenly it crashed, sound looping, screen frozen. I hit the reset button thinking it was my gfx card overheating but the computer failed to boot at all. It restarted but then switched itself off and on again and the fans sped up but it doesn't even get to bios. The motherboard is giving me a 9.0 error code which apparently indicates a problem with either the PSU or mobo itself as it gets as far as the award bios taking over the boot but no further.

If anyone has experieced anything like this or knows what might be causing it I'd really like to hear as I don't fancy the prospect of replacing components one by one. Its definitely not the gfx card as I tested another and I have no way of testing the mobo or psu in a different system.

abit ip35 pro
C2D E6600
ati 4890
4gb ram
corsair hx620 psu

Thanks :)

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I know its an old board but I'd still like to get to the bottom of this.

Yeah that was my feeling as well. I know Corsair make quality psus and I bought it with the intention of upgrading but haven't got round to it yet. I should go for a new i7 mobo and cpu but I might just pick up a cheap 775 for now as I've just spent all my money on a Macbook :)

Would the fact that it happened while I was gaming mean it is more likely to be the mobo than the psu?
