Hii

I've Just changed my old CPU ( 4 Core ) to ( FX-8350 ).

My system used to run perfectly , just changed the CPU , it started for few seconds , then 3 beeps came , then the system stopped from booting. I noticed the Case indicator light was flashing , 1 second on , 1 second off.

i checked the connections, recontacted everything again, still nothing. When I close the PSU for few seconds, open it again, the system starts for milliseconds , just see a blue light and as the fan will start then again no power.

what else can I do?

I tried already clearing the CMOS
did not help

my bios is K.5, the latest

but I was thinking , could it be the motherboard just died
how to know that?

or maybe something wrong with cpu?

what other things can stop the system from powering up?

also what those 3 beeps mean?

system specs:

mother board : MSi 990fxa-gd65gda
Ram: 8GB Kingstone
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 460 4GB
OS : Windows10 X64
450 watt PSU

Thank you all For your all help
I tried the old CPU
still the same problem

but I found the problem
its the " ATX 8-pin Power Connector: JPWR2 "

if I remove the connector the system works but of course not the CPU
when I use the connector again no power, only a little spark after powering of the PSU ( Corsair ) and on again.

is this a motherboard problem
or PSU?

Could be lots of things in that old PC.
Worn out motherboards or PSU, even bad BIOS battery could have went dead during change.
(What's the precise PSU model?)

Might need also clearing CMOS to defaults to get it recognize new CPU.
Though if old CPU doesn't anymore work, that hints toward other cause.

I don't know the the PSU model

But as I said before , I already tried the old CPU , same problem

Ill try another PSU , hope it will work , cuz either I guess means the motherboard problem

its confirmed
its the motherboard
the ATX 8-pin Power Connector: JPWR2 is the problem , tried brand new cooler master PSU same problem
