Hi,

After installing Vista SP1 I'm getting a BSOD on bootup. This is the error message on the blue screen:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The verifiction of a knownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly with the status of 0xc0000020 (0x0107a540 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

So, it looks like a system file has been damaged during the update to Service Pack 1.

I've tried booting from my Vista disc, and running a repair, no luck.

Tried booting in Safe mode, doesn't work.

Any ideas guys? Somehow I just knew something would happen when I updated to SP1. :(

My pc spec:

Vista 64 home premium
Q6600
4GB RAM
GTX 260

All stock speeds.

chkdsk C: /b
since youve tried a repair. install a new copy of vista over the top, or along side. Format and re-install.

If it gives any information about the file that is missing you could copy it onto the drive, but from what you posted it doesnt look like it tells you

Edit: could try a system restore if you have it turned on as other people seem to have success with it sometimes (never worked for me so i turn it off)

Well I just tried to do a repair again and it's taking a lot longer than last time, seems to be doing something. *Fingers crossed*

If this doesn't work I guess I'll have to reinstall windows?

Me and a buddy both had problems after sp1 install. His sound drivers went bad and my pc bsod at startup. I had to use disk to do a repair and now all is good.

Hmm, after doing a System Restore from the Vista disk it's now installing SP1 again >.<

I hope it doesn't do the same thing. Maybe a file just got corrupeted while it was installing last time...
