System Errors point to HDD Failure - but is it the HDD?

Help!

My PC's been locking up recently and I eventually checked the system log.

EventID 51

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.

Ran CHKDSK which revealed zero problems. I've Googled the error and other forums have stated it's not the HDD. I'm hoping someone can offer some advice - bad drivers perhaps? Disk controller??

Try Memtest first I would think.
Also try turning off the pagefile and turning it back on again.
Finally have a look at the SMART readings & run the manufacturers diag utiltiy past it & see what it finds.
