Well on turning my rig on today I was greeted with a black screen and the ASUS 8N-SLI Premium shouting "System Failed Memory Test" through my speakers. (System was last on 17hours ago, shut down perfectly) I tried twice to turn it on, no change. Then left it for 5 mins, opened case up and blew away a bit of dust, and then tried again, it booted up fine (typing this from it now).

So, why would my memory thats been perfect for 19months suddenly mess me around?

Memory: 2*1GB Corsair XMS3200 CL2 (TX2048-3200C2PT)
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-SLI-Premium
CPU: AMD X2 4800

Are there any memory stress test / analyser programs I should run? (Btw, I'm running XP x64bit)

TY

Can be a number of reasons. I had 1 stick just die on me, just like that, the other day. It happens, but gave me a good enough reason to upgrade to 2gig. :)

Download and run Memtest86+. Let that run through for about an hour, if it finds faults, try each stick of ram seperately to find the faulty one.

Cheers, will do. Looks like its a out of windows task, so will do it later while watching Hustle!

Yeah it creates a bootable CD. Be careful with the monitor though, because the colours used when the test loads are really bad for creating screen burn on older TFT's :)
