Hi guys

Just turned on my computer today and I get the error message 'System fails VGA test' - the computer turns on, the fans whirl, and it beeps 5 times, and a voice says the error message. I get no signal to my monitor but Windows boots as normal (I can hear the startup music). I'm guessing it's either a Graphics card issue or a motherboard issue but I don't know...any suggestions?

first thing and easiest thing to try is to remove your gfx card. clean any dust of the heat sinks if there is any carefully and then put it back in. sometimes reseating *** card can help..

but it does sounds kinda terminal also if there is a fan on yoru card is it spinning ?

hang on a sec, surely if the vga card was borked, POST would fail and it wouldn't continue to load?

Unless.....is it an Asus board? cos mine will tell me that "system failed memory test" but will still load, so its not entirely POST driven i guess.

I'd be more inclined to say the fault is outside of the pc, ie. vga cable or monitor itself. If you have access to another pc, try the monitor and same cable on that first.
