Just wanted to see if anyone else had ever had their system lock up upon opening cpuz? This evening, I opened core temp and cpuz in quick succession (basically at the same time) and my pc just froze. I could move the mouse, but had to manually reset it using the power button. Since then I have tried to replicate it but can't.

I am concerned it is my overclock but it has been rock solid for the last week (was happy I had got it stable last Tuesday). NO BSOD's, fine in Prime with AVX instructions for hours, fine in games, fine in 3dmark benches, fine in digital audio workstation bits ( lots of high memory VST instruments) e.t.c.

The freeze didn't even give me anything in event viewer, no BSOD, no app crash message, nothing. It just froze and needed resetting and cpuz has opened without issue since ( have closed and opened it about 30 times in row)

Could it just have been a one off bug caused by opening both core temp and cpuz at the same time?

Turns out this might be a Coretemp RC6 issue -

I just opened Coretemp up again today ( didn't touch cpuz this time) and the system froze again in the exact same manner. Ran an hour of intel burn test on maximum stress level just to test things earlier and ran with no issue so hopefully not my overclock. In fact if I look back it did freeze when I opened coretemp and not cpuz. I had only just double clicked coretemp which started than moved my cursor over cpuz but I think it froze before it registered me clicking on cpuz :p

From that forum thread it seems like a common issue with 64 bit windows 8 and the new version of coretemp. Anyone here had that issue?
