Hey Guys,

I just installed an X-Fi Extreme Music into my machine which has been happily working away 27/7 for the last 5 months. Now after only 1-2 hours (sometimes more sometimes less) the system just hangs. No BSOD, no beeps, it just stops working. I've checked for conflicts, changed PCI slots, reloaded windows, tried different drivers (on clean installs) and the problem still persits. If i remove the X-Fi all is well. It can't be specific to my card as i've put in a friends X-Fi Music and the same thing happens even after another fresh install of Windows! Is this a problem with the X-Fi series in general? I thought it could be down to my overclocking but i've put everything back to normal and it's the same! I've tried many different combinations of windows patches/driver updates/removing hardware etc... all to no avail... Any ideas, i'm stumped! :confused:

My System is;
E6600 C2D
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
2GB G.Skill RAM (800)
150GB WD Raptor
2 x 250 GB WD HDDs
GeForce 7900GTO @ 700/1600)
X-Fi Extreme Music
Terratec 2400i TV Card
Windows XP MCE

:rolleyes:

Do you think this could be a memory problem even though all works fine without the X-Fi?
oh sorry i thought you said 'if i remove the x fi its the same as well' :p

:p No worries.

I've solved a fair few PC problems in my time, and this one has really got me! And worse still it's on MY PC!! The only thing i can think of is that there is some kind of incompatibility between my PC and the X-fi... shame really becuase for 1-2 hours the thing is great! Games have never sounded so good!
