System hangs when XMP enabled at 3200

I've got this memory 2 x 8GB sticks:

Thats with a 5600X and MSI B550 Tomahawk with EVGA 1060 6GB SC.



Which works fine at stock 2133 speed, but if I enable XMP at 3200 it crashes after about a couple of hours. The mouse keeps working, but all windows and apps arent responsive.

Looking at the shop, this one says Ryzen Optimised:

But surely the other RAM shouldnt cause it to crash?
 
The one from October that allows 5000 series CPU, but not the latest beta version.
It doesnt say anything about RAM on its release notes so I'm not tempted at the moment.
 
Yep - the 2nd and 4th slots. The non-beta one (whilst 4th nov on the website) has a build date of late october - thats the one I have. Reading more about this on Reddit and Corsair forums, it looks like Corsair have xmp issues with Ryzen more than most - which may explain why there is that "Ryzen optmised" version I linked to above. I would hope that it doesnt mean I cant get mine working though.

I've just flipped XMP back on and I'll see how I go.

I think its the RAM, as when I put it back to stock speed, I havent had a single hang. If I get another hang now I'm back on XMP I'm sure its the RAM.
I'm also wondering what exactly the "Ryzen optmised" version of this RAM I linked to above does - is it a whole separate product from Corsair?

Memtest is still running, here is a screenshot.



After that I'll see how long it lasts in windows at xmp 3200.

It sounds like I have good RAM from what you say, just frustrating it doesnt seem to be stable at 3200.

Here are the memtest results, it seems ok.



I'll keep it running overnight on xmp 3200 with a few downloads going and see what happens.

I started to take a look at that but got a bit overwhelmed with quite how many changes I should (or shouldnt) be changing.
I think the changes I should make are these:


but after delving into the bios, the list of settings seems never ending! I can see why people like XMP!

I had a lot of success with that calc, I have 32gb of b-die (patriot viper) running nice and stable at 3600 CL14... it does require a bit of time finding your way around the bios settings though I agree.

Well, I've been running it all night on xmp 3200 now, it had a few apps open and downloading some games etc.. and its not thrown an error.
Not sure why it would be more stable now - luck?

I think I'll see how this goes and take it from there. Perhaps the next step would be to try that beta bios.

Thanks very much for everyones help so far - its definitely been an eye-opener.
