Hey all......... Thanks in advance.

Here are my pc specs:-

PSU: Cosair HX850w Modular
CPU: Phenom II 1090t
RAM: DDR3 Geil EVO Corsa 1866
GPU: HD 6870Black Edition and XFX 6870 on Crossfire.
Mobo: Sabertooth 990FX
OS: Windows7 Ultimate 64bit
My system is running supremely cool before you ask :) 17 at idle... When gaming way below standard temps.

All drivers up to date.

Now to my problem... Basically I started off upgrading my pc with just changing my graphics card... then I decided to crossfire, Which then lead me to have to change my Power supply.. And so on and so on.....
My pc still didnt run any games smoothly... bf3... doesnt even run heroes of newerth on constant 125 fps like it should.

So today i bought the only part i didnt upgrade, the mobo, to the sabertooth.. Hoping it would solve the performance problem.. Nothings changed??? Any ideas people???

crazy, try the newer 6870 as a single card to rule out the first card being bricked?

+1

It may be an issue with crossfire in the games you play or simply an fault with one of the cards. Certainly try each card one at a time and see if you solve the issue or it gets worse.

In BF3 what exactly are the issues you are seeing? Is it that it doesn't run smoothly, or does run at all? What resolution and settings are you running at?

Also, may I ask how much RAM do you have installed? Have you tried running each stick individually and then testing stability and performance?

Cpu is 17 at idle... and thats one thing i havent tried.. one card at a time... Not for one of the cards anyway i will try that now.

Well on highest settings 1600 resolution..... Im running quite smooth but really juddery then if i turn AA on x2 or x4.. my fps drops for 25-30???

Im using 8gb or ram

1600 resolution?

Is that 1600x900, 2560x1600 or something else?

Please bear in mind that BF3 is a very GPU-intensive game and if you try and run it at ultra settings and turn AA up then your performance will be relatively poor (even with two HD 6870s).

May I ask what graphics drivers you are using and have you applied the most recent CAP?

Sorry i use 1900x1200 Got it wrong.
Just used both cards seperately both had same performance.. I have only tried Heroes of Newerth with my new mother board since this morning and as we all know cross fire is buggy with certain games. So i will download bf3. and skyrim and try performance on both of those tomorrow :)

What were you saying about RAM? Could it be the RAM?

Its good to hear that individually each of the cards seem to be fine.

As for Heroes of Newerth - I don't believe that game actually supports Crossfire properly, so I would suggest disabling crossfire before going into that game as it could cause problems.

If your main issue is with that game, then there most likely isn't any problem with your RAM. But if you would like to check it, then try running each memory stick individually see if you get the same performance problems (plus running memtest on it is a good idea too).

As for BF3 - that game should make good use of your crossfire setup (just make sure the graphics drivers and CAP is up to date). As for skyrim, it will probably be CPU limited.
