My system has been working for a few months, but when I switch it on it go's through initalisation detecting ram drives ect, then I just get a flashing cursor at the top left hand side of the screen, and that all. If I try to reinstall windows it says checking system hardware and just freezes. This is my daughters computer not the one shown. Any help would be appriciated.

The only time I've seen this was on my socket 754 system, clearing the bios [resetting CMOS] fixed it.

Thanks carter, tried that and it just ask for me to press F1 for bios and F2 to set defaults, when I press F2 I get a cursor top line, then the cursor goes one line down and just sits there??

normally the flashing curser on left is your system detecting your cd/dvd drive so it can ask you if you want to boot from cd.
