Good morning guys.

I'm having a problem with one of my systems. it's the old one I have, that I am getting this problem with.

The system specs are:

2.5Ghz Intel P4
640mb of Ram,
128mb Geforce FX5200

The game I was playing was need For Speed Underground.

Now, while playing the game, it runs perfect. No slow downs or anything. But it will lock the whole pc up that I have to power it off via removing the power cord. The game just stops, it doesn't slow down and stop. it just stops.

So I went into event viewer and saw one error to do with a printer driver or something. I don't think that would cause the system to lock up like that.

I don't think it would be heat, the system doesnt get too hot.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks a lot!

Might be worth reinstalling your video and sound drivers. Lockups for me in the past are most often attributable to one of these two. Try updating your DirectX as well, if applicable (although I heard a whisper of a problem with the lastest update, I've not had an issue).

If it's not as simple as drivers, then maybe we can start looking elsewhere - but I'd start there.

I am going to take the side panle off and then run the game again and see if it makes a difference. Can't check GPU temp as when the pc freezes, I have to pull the cord to get out of the lock. So by the time I have restarted and come back to windows, GPU temp would've dropped a lot..?
