Hi, I finally set up my 2nd OCZ Agility 3 120Gb in a RAID pair on my ASUS M5A99X EVO V2.0

They are attached to SATA_1 and SATA_2.
Disks are members of RAID 0.
I have Windows 7 x64 installed on my only RAID 0.
2 x 1Tb Samsung on ports 3/4 not as RAID.
CD/DVD drives are configured on Ports 5/6 as IDE.

Recently keep getting an intermittent BSoD - STOP then I reboot and its generally OK but now I have to do a system repair but when it gets to the Load Drivers for the RAID array non of the ASUS drivers work.

..\drivers\ahcix64s.sys

System restore did not detect the disk and drivers from the motherboard CD did not solve anything.

I tried all 3 drivers from Asus site - no result.

However, when I originally installed the RAID 0 and restored the image from a Windows backup I didn't have to load drivers then, it just recognised the disks but doing a repair it doesn't recognised a Windows partition.

If I go into RAID config it sees both drivers configured as a RAID pair as it should with one logical drive of 236Gb.

So I need to understand how to get the system repair to recognise the partition so the MBR can be fixed.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Tried that, doesn't see any disks.

Whatever driver I use from AMD or ASUS to recognise the Windows partition so I can select it to do a repair it just doesn't see anything. The closest I get is when I load a driver and it then goes to search for windows on the system but doesn't come back with anything.

The thing is I have only seen problems like this with SSD drives on the AMD RAID controller. Never had this problem with Silicon RAID controllers....

I'm at the point now that I'm gonna re-install windows 7 from scratch and if it happens again I'm gonna dump this board on eBay!!!

So I just came across this in another post on another site that was from a performance review of another SSD but with the same chipset as the M5A99X Evo V2.0...

This review is from: Crucial M500 240GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive CT240M500SSD1

"Pros: none, never got a chance to try

Cons: windows wont recognize these in raid0 configured stripe. tried every possible bios and physical connection configuration with win7 and win8. and nothing on crucial website either, except other frustrated owners posts.....

Other Thoughts: my rig is amd 990ex . don't buy these if you have a similar rig and want raid0. take my word for it
"

So I think the answer to the problem is that RAID0 does not work with the AMD SB950 chipset with SSD drives. Waste of money for the Mobo and the SSD's.

Linux live CD to make sure it's not a physical issue, then make sure the correct controller driver is installed, either for RAID or AHCI. You could also try looking with Legacy Mode on the controller.
