I am currently thinking about upgrading my CPU/Motherboard/Memory to some more recent tech but I am just wondering how long it is until the next release? I know there will always be something around the corner but always nice to no it is not tomorrow.

So far I have being eyeing up these bad boys.

Skylake is probably the next Intel CPU release that would be worth waiting for but it's not likely to be out until the end of the year.

Also remember that in addition to an X99/5930k CPU you'll also need to buy DDR4 memory which will add another £150-200 to the cost for 16Gb depending on speed. I've upgraded to X99/5930k but I was preciously on an X58/i7-920. On the PC in your sig it's probably worth holding off IMO and seeing what Skylake brings to the table.

I'd put the cash towards an newer video card or monitor, maybe a larger system SSD, if you're feeling the upgrade itch as you'll get more gain from that. A 5930k wont be that much quicker than an 3770k.

I would hold on to the one in your sig!

if your gaming I don't think you will see much of a improvement, save the pennies and wait for the next gen cpus to come out or something that you will see a improvement in

what gpu do you currently have?

What is the main use of the system?

I think Broadwell is the first quarter, but I am not sure on performance at the moment.

Xfire 7950s as I was waiting for AMDs new gpus this year.

Gaming/Streaming (Well I say streaming but my rig cannot handle it very well so it is rare now)

if your waiting for the next gen AMD cards to come out then I would save your money and wait for the next gen intel cpu's before upgrading
