Windows 8.1
I doubt it has anything to do with it but I just updated Samsung Magician to 4.3 on a family PC with an EVO in it and am running into some problems. Perhaps it is being caused by something else (I rarely use this PC) but I can't seem to enable RAPID mode again. It keeps trying to create a restore point but doesn't actually create one.
I tried making one manually through windows but likewise, it never finishes creating it and oddly my past manual restore points have disappeared. There is one automatic restore point from October where I installed a creative audio driver. Unfortunately I can't seem to restore to this point as again, it just hangs, this time on "Preparing to restore your system...". Any idea what the cause might be? Could a required windows service have been disabled?

Now the one restore point I had has disappeared. I also can't update or uninstall java, even after deleting all the files and clearing the registry.
