Hi my second pc is running slow, i ran hd tune and the primary hd (sam 501) is dropping from 80 - 1mb.

ive tried my secondary hd (seagate) and thats getting around 70mb, so ive cloned the hd and re-run hd tune.

Now the seagate is running slow and dropping to 1mb and the samsung is staying around 80mb.

Task manager shows system is idle, no scans are being run?

Please help

Any chance you could do a fresh install instead of cloning? Reason is if there is anything wrong with the old system files, you will just transfer the problem to the other drive.

Also before doing this, try moving it to a different sata port and new cable if you have one.

the samsung is 500gb and the seagate is 250gb, the drives have about 230 gb on them.

I've swapped the sata cables between the drives and it makes no difference.

Thanks

what do you mean the drive has 1mb, its 1MB/s?

if thats the case. How can you even load a program lol! dont think the hard drives are at fault. I think it could be a faulty processor or motherboard thats causing the slowness.

What OS you on? you should check if the drive is running in PIO mode, as maybe that somehow transferred across with a clone, since it says "disk 0 run in PIO mode" (basically) and that would cause the new "disk 0" to run in it.

On XPHOME its hard to find out, xp pro you can just look at the settings for it in device manager, newer OS's I havent had the issue so havent check out if you can see it in the same way, but intel rapid storage driver tool thing might tell you (can check when I get home), other option would be during post, make it do a full post and not a quick boot and see if it tells you there.
