SS1 and SS2 are the best games I played when I was a youngun for a long time, until perhaps KOTOR and KOTOR 2 replaced them as my favourites (only because star wars )
STALKER came close too

It took like 7 years to develop iir and the kickstarter began in 2014? It also underwent a full engine change from Unity to Unreal and they started again from scratch. Nightdive knew the score and kudos to them for the full PC optimisations they did.

So I caved and got it on CDkeys. Just like the demo it's excellent, no stutters or anything as expected, it even exceeds 150fps at 5160x2160 on Ultra, which tbh isn't hard given the art style but still... Most impressive.

I have it locked at 120fps just because I can, the CPU is basically asleep in this game, the GPU is doing all the work. It seems so well optimised it's unreal (pun intended) given recent games.

Also, this option was curious, not sure I want to try it

Haha I did a double take on that one as well. For clarity, it means if you die in the cyber mini game, you die in the main game.

I backed it on kickstarter and never completed the original as I found it quite inaccessible. SS2 just felt much more polished.

Though I am really enjoying this remake a lot. The lack of hand holding and the slightly retro graphical style is making me feel a lot of nostalgia. I was mid 20s when the original came out.

This is awesome. I remember playing the demo(s), but the final version is really polished and performs great without stuttering which is very unusual for an Unreal engine game.
