Just noticed this problem. I don't know how long its been happening as I often turn on the PC then go to another room, get a drink and its on the Welcome screen when I get back...

The system gets upto the "Loading Operating System" then just shuts off and turns back on. It does this a further two times, but the 3rd time I gets past it and goes to the OS selection screen.

This seems very peculiar. I've only watched it a handful of times and each time it has been the 3rd time that has got it to actually get to the OS screen, I suppose I may have to try it a few other times to see if its not just a coincidence. I'm not sure if the 3rd time would mean anything?

The system hasn't shut down badly, usually its after i've manually shut down, not after a crash or bluescreen. Although, I say this because today the system locked up and I had to turn it back on, hence noticing the problem again. (Not sure if its a related problem).

Any ideas?
My spec's are in the sig, all present and correct!
Windows 7 64bit.
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4

Cheers.

Try a 4.4GHz overclock, maybe the system stability is a bit marginal at 4.5 in the bios (whatever IBT or prime is saying).

Run memtest from boot disk and check the memory for errors.

Thanks for the response, i'll give it a go later when I can! :)

With regards to memtest, i've always looked at it but never figured how to use it? Can it be put on a USB? Link to a guide for near idiots ? :) thanks.
