Hiyahh! :D

I was just getting quite content wih the system in my sig... then my dad suggests selling it to one of his mates at work! And asked me to price up a cheap but ok for me C2D setup!

This is where i need a hand! :)

It needs to be as cheap as it can be! :D BUT that being said, must be ok! Still a great wee system for me! No point in doing this if im gonna have shoddy parts and a poor system :(

Me... im your average computer user type guy! I kick around the desktop lots with lots of wee apps and internet explorers open, i play games when i can (HL2, Colin McRae DiRT, Halo a the moment (wouldnt mind crysis)), i download lots so do need some space, i put lots on DVD... videos etc so some encoding power is needed!

I WILL be overclocking, as i love it! :D So any items you can think of that would be ace for this... the better!

This is a quickie i done...

Anyone have any suggestions or better ideas!?

Many thanks!!

Craig!! :)

Looks good, can't fault it tbh without knowing how much you'd like to spend. Maybe get the OCUK value 3850pro 512Mb on this week only for £111?

There really is no limit mate... well say id like to stick to 500... or as close as :)

The graphics... i noticed that, think the ocuk one will be as solid of an overclocker as the more 'branded' one?

Change the hard drive for a samsung one (two is an excellent idea) and change the PSU for a Seasonic, Corsair, Tagen or Enermax one. Perhaps bumb the gfx to a 3870 XT or an 8800 GT, but up to you, the 3850 is still a good card.

It's just as good as the branded ones quality wise, and also comes with 1 year warranty, but just without the fancy cooler and pre-clocked core and mem, which you can easily overclock yourself anyway. People have reported receiving branded cards despite paying for ocuk value.

Ill have a look at changes ya suggested now mate... thanks :)

The graphics i think i like as any 3850 512mb... as apparently they can clock quite well... usually to speeds of the 3870? Well so i thought :P

Thanks!

Think ill go with that then... cheers :D

Samsung don't die quite so easily, their faster and quieter. Oh, and go for the 16MB cache drives.

Really worth it... they are out of stock and about 15quid dearer! :O

I looked into 8 vs. 16mb buffers a while back... and didnt see too much of a difference... most saying its only really good for large transfers between hard drives?

fair enough, you've probably know more about the difference than I do. I've only used the 16MB ones, but the 8MB ones are probably just as good (just I haven't used them personally).

Cheers for the help mate! :)

Anyone got other ideas?

What about the case? That any good?

Motherboard... that a good choice for overclocking?

CPU... should i just get the cheapest... or best to go with the mid range of the cheapies?

Craig!! :)

I've found the case you've picked a bit cheap feeling in the past, but it does the job. Find a Lian Li you like the look of, they make better quality cases. I also like the Akasa eclipse, and Antec P180 (although the cable layout in the P180 is bad) in terms of build quality.

Motherboard should be fine.

Clock that e2180 - should do you fine.

Id love a Lian Li... but really none are appealing to me :( Also other cases are starting to get a bit expensive... this one looks ok, so ill give it a shot :P

Yeah ill clock whatever processor i go for... just hope this one is a good un :D

what's wrong with the origininal ocz power supply, i have the 600w version and just want to know if there are any faults?
