Hi all,

I need some assistance in getting my new system stable, although its a weird one.
Spec:

Q9550
DFI JR P-45 T2RS
4 x 2GB Corsair 6400 RAM
HX620
2 x WD 640GB Caviar Black
4870 1GB
Vista x64 HP

Temps are all fine, no problems there and I can run Prime etc. for hours, no problems. But when I boot up or restart it SOMETIMES either blue screens at Windows or before or has an issue with a file becomming corrupt.

- All drivers, firmware and BIOS are up to date
- System is prime stable
- Everything is plugged in and checked
- WD tools say that the HDDs are fine
- Re-installed Windows (didnt have a choice on this one alas...)
- When in Windows its pretty much fine.
- HDDs are running on AHCI
- Memcheck shows no errors

Now I think this might be down to a BIOS settings issue, butthe trouble is, I don't quite get each of the settings in the BIOS for recommended RAM timings and voltage settings (although this would be odd as its fine when in Windows)

Anybody got any help or advice?

Thanks

What exception/error do you get exactly ?

Varying ones that the thing. Had the usual 7E, but only once had IRQ_DRIVER_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL a few times...occasionally the registry got corrupted...which is why I'm getting confused and its hard to troubleshoot, loads of errors for different things. I'm getting stressed out because I have a lot of experience with PCs but its so hard to fix it when there is lack of consistency...

I did try upping the RAM voltage to around 1.95v, reckon I need more? What about manually setting some of the timings etc. because theres laods and I'm not a RAM expert.

This Stop error, which can be caused by either software or hardware, indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory location it did not have permission to access or a memory location that exists at a kernel interrupt request level (IRQL) that was too high. A kernel-mode process can access other only processes that have an IRQL that's equal to or lower than its own.

I had that motherboard and some corsair 8500 RAM - they didn't like each other at all. That motherboard seems to be very picky compatability wise IMO (but I could be wrong!)

Well I have tried settings the RAM at 2v and set most of the timings manually...guess Ill just have to see how it goes =/
