system stable except with bf3

Hi guys,

having some issues with bf3, i play a lot and often 4-5 hours of wow or aa and not an issue but with bf3 my system hangs. i'm thinking it could be the video card but not having any issue with other games i'm now wondering if it could be the psu.

my system is amd phenom II 965 BE, ati 4670 1gb, 4gb kingston 1600 mhz. What happens is that the screen will just fail to update and i might get stuck with an orange screen or stripy green while i can still hear people on ts3 but all i can do is a hard reboot.

On a side note this card doesn't have any other power supply than what it's getting from the mobo, could a lack of power to it be the issue?

What kind of memory usage is BF3 using during the game? at high res and settings BF3 cam use up to 2GB of RAM. If you're running low on memory then things could get a bit unstable.

Green stripes though indicates a GFX problem most likely.

i'd say something in your gpu is overheating and/or your card has an unstable overclock or is on the way out...

Yh I say overheating gpu too,try and alt-tab out and see how hot gpu is,maybe time for new card?

gpu is currently at standard clock, i'm not ruling out overheating but it's quite random so it will do it after 5 minutes or after 45. waiting for gpu waterblock atm so hopefully soon will be able to exclude that too.
