System swap advic pls

My son has now killed his mobo on a old DDR2 pc, with a nice 3gb asus 7950

I have an I5 rig with 2 6950's, so my plan if i can get away with my wife not knowing is to give him the i5 rig and my 2X 6950's and just get another DDR3 mobo, ram and another 7950, not upto speed on cpu's so advice welcome!

Can you please spec me a decent mobo, ram (16gb) and suitable 7950 please ?

Budget of around 1k

Used for gaming only!

currently got a 1000w decent psu in mine and a silverstone 850w in his

so the HIs will be ok with the asus 7950 3gb ?

You can crossfire any 7950 with any other 7950, they will just look different in the system.

Did a slight edit as I put the wrong GPU in, but if you have the budget, go with the 4770k

Ah but which board and RAM?

Thats a hard choice as the OC is a monster overclocker (serious stuff), the Sniper has more "gamer" related features.

The 8Gb kit was out of stock when I made that Sniper thread, the 16GB still showed in stock when I did the basket above.

Hay no problem, i shouldnt have been in such a rush to order and double checked the availability
