System to run 3d max??

As the title says could someone please spec me a system to run 3dMax on

Price range between £800 and £1200, needs the tower and a monitor, keyboard and mouse not needed as the lad is going to keep the ones he is currently using.

XP prefered but Vista if you guys think it would be an advantage.

*EDIT* He also plays CSS, so something that will handle games reasonably well too would be a bonus

For a rendering box I would basically recommend you to focus mainly on a Dual Core CPU, at least 2gb of RAM, Hard Disk space and a big monitor (Core 2 Duo, 500gb HD, Dell 24" 2407) .

You can compromise the quality of the rest of the rig if you arent going to overclock or play games on it.

So would you say an E6600/500GB HDD/2GB Corsair XMS2 6400 and an X1950Pro would be suitable?

He does not have the finances to get a 24" screen, so I am thinking of the Belinea 2225S1W 22", any thoughts?

If you want to get under budget you can knock off the 8800GTS for a 1950XT or change the Corsair to the 520w version.
