Hi Guys, I have had a bit of a nightmare recently with a few parts of the rig and need to looking at buying some new parts.

I have a GFX card (980ti), all storage drives/OS/Peripherals/case and I am looking at getting a new CPU/MOBO/RAM and hopefully an AIO cooler as well if I can squeeze it into the budget.

I do currently have a 4770k(100% working, I have tested it) but my motherboard has failed and I thought this might be a good time up upgrade a few other bits as well.

I do a fair bit of gaming (Main games Ark Survival, Overwatch, Rocket League and some modded Minecraft) along with some less intensive games (Gmod, Sven coop and some indie games).

I also do a fair bit of video editing and rendering to upload to youtube so I would like it to be able to handle all of this. My actually current budget is around £800 but I am taking this opportunity to buy another monitor and I will have probably around £550 left after this purchase. It has been a while since I have needed to buy anything like this and as i common around here I am totally out of the look. Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £551.06
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Without the AIO cooler you could go for an i7 6700K instead.

Its a pity as the 4770k is still a really good CPU, its almost worth just getting a replacement motherboard. I would certainly look at selling the 4770K might get enough for it to make up the difference and get the i7

with a budget of £550 youll struggle to move to a newer platform and gain a performance increase.

the cheapest skylake i7 is £319 so this is leaving you £230 for a board and ram..

you could sell your 4770k to get a bit extra on the budget

I personally would buy a good z97 board use youre current CPU and either use the spare cash on an extra 980ti for an sli set up or save up to go x99

EDIT missed the part about an AIO cooler.. in that case I would go for the Z97 board and a new cooler and overclock youre current 4770k.

also is your old board not covered under warranty?

Thanks for the advice guys, I wasnt sure I would get anything better for that sort of money. I have been really happy with my 4770k and I haven't even looked into O/C yet either.

No my board is not covered unfortunately, but I think I will get a new one and maybe get a nice new monitor or something like that.

Thanks guys,

If it were me I'd just look at replacing the motherboard and spend the money saved on a nice 1440p 144hz G Sync monitor to compliment your 980Ti :)

The extra spent on CPU and RAM would only result in a marginal performance boost and would not be good value for money at all.
