system upgrade advise required

im planning on upgrading my current system and would like some opinions on the components i intend to buy.

Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Dual Channel Kit
Corsair VX 550W ATX Power Supply (is this psu modular cabling?)
SAPPHIRE HD 3870 512MB GDDR4 PCI-E
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II

gfx card and HDD will be taken from current system for the time being as money is very limited

does a 64bit o/s offer any performance boost over 32bit?

I think the 64bit os is a must now a days. Plus whats the point in getting 4gb when only 3.25 will be used?

32bit o/s is old hat now.

Your going to build a rig with a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition(64bit) so you will need a OS (64BIT), l recommend Win 7.

even core 2 duos have 64bit support, its common now.


if having 4Gb of RAM(or more) and a a lot of GPU RAM than 64bit hands down even seems more faster than 32 bit
