Hi,

Having sold parts of my old desktop to buy a laptop for uni, im getting serious withdraw for counter strike source and gaming generally lol.

From my old system i ahve the following components remaining;

AMD 3500+ Skt 939 Venice Core (Including sink and fan)
1GB DDR400 Crucial ram
80gb Samsung IDE drive
17'' flat screen
ATI 9800 pro AGP

I already have keyboard, mouse, speakers and monitor etc.. Just need to rebuild a tower, thinking i probs need to go PCI-e but was hoping i could stick with the CPU for now.

I'd appreciate it if you guys would see how close to £300 pounds u can get when turning my pile of rusting components into a reasonable gaming machine.

Thx!

That'd work, its by no means future proof tho. If you want to upgrade in the future you'll have to change your mobo, ram and cpu all at the same time. But it'll be fine for CS:S. You can sell that 9800pro for a pretty decent price still too, perhaps get some cooling kit with the extra money so you can overclock, or just start saving for core2.
