Hi,

I'm now very close to upgrading my c2d 6300 (running at 2.8ghz) and motherboard. I have windows 7, an MSI 6950 gfx card, a vertex 2e ssd drive, a cpu cooler: Alpenföhn Civetta CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1156/1155) in a large Fractal Design case

I am now going to replace the motherboard, processor and ram and just want to check the items I've selected and whether I'd be better getting something else:

I've got in my basket:

(i5 3570k, 8gb teamgroup elite, gigabyte z77d3h and arctic silver)

The total is £265 which I think is pretty reasonable. Is anything there slightly wrong? Will mostly be gaming and films with overclocking at some point

edit: added in some thermal paste

The OEM is at a great price though, so I can understand saving £25 and taking the OEM. All the rest looks good. You use that paste before?

thanks, hadn't really considered warranty for any of the products!

Yes I think I've used the paste before but it may have been on an AMD K5/6. The name rang a bell. That was the last time I'd needed the stuff.

Personally don't find that £25 difference worth it. The chances of your CPU going in those 2 years is slim seeing as how a CPU usually borks it on day one of dies after a millenia. That £25 could go towards a proper air cooler.

Cheers, I'm thinking save the £25 for the same reason (if it's going to fail it willl do it sooner rather than later).

Re the cooler, seems to be doing well for my C2D overclock so not too worried.
