Hi All,

I posted a few months ago about possibly upgrading and was advised to go for a new monitor which has been fantastic.

I'm now wanting to upgrade the components as I'm having issues with FPS on some games. Also thinking of the future to.

PSU: XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £45.82 1
CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black (CC-9011023-WW)
RAM: GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1600C9DC)
MOBO: Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
GPU: Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

My CPU is overclocked to 4.1ghz so that seems fine to me. I have 2 SSD's so don't need a hard drive.

Just so you have an idea on budget I'm thinking of a GTX 980 GPU? Any other suggestions?

cheers,

ARMA 3 is CPU intensive which is why you're having issues, the GPU isn't going to make a difference. Buy a 3770k or just change the settings.

Really wouldn't bother changing the 3570k for the 3770k tbh for ARMA 3.
I have a 4970k and would get slightly better FPS in ARMA 3 if I disabled HT..

ARMA 3 favours Nvidia over AMD so Nvidia would be the way to go.

I have a 4790k @ 4.5GHz and a GTX 980 - average 70fps max settings 1920x1080, 3k view distance on a 60/60 decent server. Of course that'll dip to 50fps if I go inside a city. I don't play on crap servers either so I'm not limiting my performance because of the server I'm on.

Also, if you overclocked from 4.1 to 4.4 you'd see a decent increase in performance. I'm not familiar with i5 -3570k overclocking, but I imagine 4.4 is a reasonable goal.
