Hi,

I built the below system back in Feb 14 and everything with it has been great so far however I'm wondering what the next logical upgrade choices would be?

Although I'm happy with the performance, on ultra settings frame rates are now dipping drastically in demanding moments in games such as Doom, Witcher, Dying Light.

I do like running me games on the highest settings, and want something to future proof me for the next few years.

Could I resell any components for a decent return, or is it not worth it? Specs below.

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC WindForce 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair RM Series RM 650 '80+ Gold' 650W Power Supply
MSI Z87-G43 Gaming Series Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
Corsair RM Series RM 650 '80+ Gold' 650W Power Supply (CP-9020054-UK)

SSD.

Freesync 144Hz or greater monitor.

Overclock the CPU with a nice heatsink.

Nice keyboard and mouse .

That's about all I can think of

theres new graphics cards that have just been released the 1070 is also due to come out you could think about one of these.
do you have any overclock on the cpu? I presume you are using an aftermarket cooler or did you use the stock intel one?

also what ram are you using?

Stulid is right about getting an adaptive sync monitor, it's a dramatic improvement. However, I think that now is the time to be considering your next VGA upgrade so the monitor should wait until you've picked your card.

This summer will see a number of models released by AMD and Nvidia. Cards which will give you a big performance jump without breaking the bank.

The Nvidia/Gsync route will be a bit more expensive than AMD/FreeSync but personally I find GSync to be the much more robust technology.
