System usage peaking my CPU cores?

Hey guys,

PC running OK, but tonight..

when I came back from dinner, my CPU usage was 100% flucuating on some cores? The temps are up too then obviously..

after leaving for a while now, it is not dropping :confused:

In task mamager everything is low, BUT the "system" is running around 11% and causing the use?

Does this sound like a borked CPU? Or possibly in need of a re-install of W10? Been a long, llong time since done? Was also thinking of it due to upgraded hardware recently?

Any ideas welcomed guys!

Sorry, forgot to say spec

Think all is OK now? After a period it has all died down? Is it possible a background update or such was causing it?

My system is :

8700K (stock)
32gb 3200mhz ram (stock)
2070s GPU (stock)
W10

Virus checker, updates, disk reorganisation.... a million things..
Hence why i always recomend buying higher cored cpu's so things like this have more room to function without loading the whole lot up.

I had a similar issue with my laptop, but on a sandy bridge dual core it was a lot more noticable.

To diagnose I had to download Process explorer which showed what was causing 'system' to show such high usage. Turns out the issue was with the SD card reader not being fully compatible with windows 10 and I had to disable it in device manager.

Turns out it was a background task, after it completed the system has been running sweet again! (touch wood!).

Probably updates for Office. I'm sure Office updated this week, because my firewall kept alerting me to some programs related to Office wanting access to the internet - naturally I denied them.

Strangely I don't see any recent Windows updates. Are the updates for Office shown elsewhere?

Another similar issue guys..

My CPU fan would ramp right up for a few seconds, then back down for a bit..then back up (rinse and repeat

)

SO I checked my task manager and saw that Chrome was the culprit, I have taken a screenshot but surely all these Chrome "tabs" should be there??

Not many mate, 6 atm.

Can I try ending all the "google chrome" tabs that is in the task manager?
