Its not really an upgrade, all i did was change the CPU fan

I didn't even need to remove CPU from socket

I have an ASUS P5Q motherboard.

It loads and stays stuck at:

"Marvell 88SE61xx Adapter Bios Version 1.1.0L70d Initializing."

Thanx h20

Check the power and data leads to your hard drive(s), it seems to be struggling to connect to the disks. Failing that, reset the CMOS and try again.

before reading this message i plugged in another hdd and its the same story

i did a search on google and in the title its exactly the same problem and its on the asustek forum, but the link doesnt work unfortunetley

Do you actually have any IDE disks attached to the Marvel controller - or are they on the Intel controller? Is your DVD drive IDE or SATA? If there's nothing attached to the 61xx ports, and if you can get into the BIOS you could disable them.

If you do have an IDE hard disk or IDE DVD drive check the connections on those too. Most likely cause is a pulled cable.

Edit - too late!

heh, ive had the similar problem today after putting in my new PSU. the cause was the same aswell, my old IDE DVD drive was the culprit. will need to get myself a sata DVD drive soon. not like they are expensive these days
