Hi all,

I have a system with an Asus p5vdc-mx motherboard, it only has a PCI x1 slot.

I have bought an amd HD6450 and a PCI x1 to x16 adapter. when i boot the system with on-board graphics, device manager sees the new card and i have installed the driver and AMD catalyst centre.

If i change the bios to boot PCI x1 as main device the system wont boot!.

Is there a way to enable the card from within windows 7 (after booting with onboard graphics) and use it with a separate monitor?

Thanks for any advice

Dan

You should have got this card it has a PCIe x 1 slot on it

HIS 6450 Silence 2GB DDR3 PCIe x1 DP/DVI/VGA

Also have you tried the card without the adpator ? You can insert the card without it and see if it works, some cards do work this way without any problems.
