Hey,

Super odd issue here with my dad's PC - it won't boot.

He turned it off last night when he went to bed and this morning disaster! The machine will boot to BIOS but not to Windows. When you leave BIOS the screens power light will flicker on and off but no output and no sign of booting properly!

It will boot from a USB stick allowing us to re-install windows but that seems like a nuclear option and a touch overkill!

Only got as far as unplugging/replugging cables so far but with such vague symptoms I'm not sure where else to start!

Finally got it to boot by threatening it with a reinstallation of windows and then rebooting again.

Unfortunately after something wanted to restart it's back to the same problem. Kinda like a boot loop but once the BIOS display has gone by nothing shows up at all!

Same still happening. Changed the BIOS battery and re-seated all components.

Only way to get it booting appears to be offer it a Windows 10 install media, choose repair. Fails immediately after another reboot though!

Now why I'm thinking of Windows 10 having updated itself to include new improved user tortures. :p

What components that PC has?
And have you tried stripping components to minimum needed for booting Windows?

Sorry - totally forgot spec.

It's an i5 of some kind (one before Devil's Canyon I think, I forget the name!)
8GB RAM
1060GTX
650W Corsair PSU
H80i AIO cooler
Mixed SSD/Mechanical HDD's

Ultimately appears to have been fixed with a re-format/re-install of windows. We reckon it must have had a faulty boot sector but not really sure!
