Hey guys so I just purchased my brother a 970 and I've installed it and it won't boot past the bios now.

All the LED lights on the card are on but we can't seem to get past the bios. Help!

Thanks

It's most probably the board bios. When Fermi launched several boards I had didn't support it without an update.

Sorry this may sound silly but how do i update the BIOS.

I've gone to their website and downloaded by clicking europe and extracting to desktop but it says when i click on the file.

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

But when i'm on the website it doesn't offer me the chance to choose 32 or 64 bit. Even no i need 64 bit.

Here's the link to the website i'm on.

I normally use update BIOS from Gigabyte server, although that looks like the correct file so click on it and press ok. Your board has a dual bios to recover from any issues

Download the latest bios and extract it to a usb stick. Reboot and go into the bios. Under tools you will see Q-Flash. Select that and follow the instructions to update the bios. That's the safest way to do it.

I have same issues with my mobo and gfx combo, same mobo as yours. BIOS is updated and so on. Mine however will eventually boot either after many restarts or after too many restarts it will say the BIOS is configured incorrectly and then load the BIOS. I just then exit the BIOS without saving and it works.

My PC is connected to an AV amp and I have found if I turn the PC on first then the amp it will 9/10 times no issue but if I turn the amp on first the PC the problem will reoccur.

I don't think it did it on the 7970 I had but it did do it on the 970 and now my 290X.
