System won't start, red light flash on mobo

Ah they went bankrupt, that's bad news.

I have a hdd and ssd connected which power on ok, can hear the hdd boot up.

Inastalled the gfx with all the power cables but it won't start up.

Now I have a solid red led for the cpu led.

This is going round in circles. Reset the cmos again and everything booted ok. Now the gfx card starts up then stops after a few seconds and the red gpu led comes on.

Dont suppose you live near me? I can help test stuff as I have loads of spare parts.

I live North west mate. So a quick google of where u lives and no :(

Thanks though. Going to try reseat it and reset the cables and see if that helps. If not I'll call OC on Monday as gpu cpu mobo and heatsink are all new

Put my old radeon hd5850 in there and this gets rid of the gpu led but still nothing on the screen.

Now I have the boot device led but nothing on screen to see if it's something I can work around

this is so annoying.

Going to take it all out and build it on the table. Think either the psu is dieing or the mobo + gfx card is crap.

SSD and older gfx card's were fine and I got everything plugged in and powered. It doesn't make sense.......

Yup checked before it went in. Wouldn't bend during boot right?

I think if I get it all out of the case and set it up on the table when I get back from work tomorrow I can find the fault maybe. Just hope it's not the PSU.

Wont ever bend once fitted and the lever pushed down.

I reckon its the PSU somehow.

tbh I think you're right! I'm going to test the gfx card on the old mobo and psu tomorrow and see if I can get a psu. prob have to buy one so might need a recommendation! gutted if I have to buy another 1!

Currently in work swapping out faulty tape drive.

If I can't get the machine to boot onto screen what do you guys think the problem component might be?

I'm going to test it all later but I'm unsure on wether I need to contact OC and talk about RMA, or about a new PSU.

I'd have a very close look at CPU socket pins on mb,only time I've had similar to your description was a bent pin,not always obvious, took a magnifying glass to see in my case after messing for two days with an intel build.

So I gotta take cpu out?

I managed to get to bios with old gfx card so new one will b rma'd for sure.

tried to boot into windows on ssd and got blue screen the restart. too quick to view error.

Well can't get it to boot into windows. Cpu temp in bios was 36 c this is normal right?

might dismantle and try build it up again and check cpu pins on the 8320

Is this a new install of windows or are you trying to transfer your existing OS over from a previous build?

transfer existing, is there an issue with doing that?

I set up my old components breadboard style and got a boot. did it with new build and old gfx card and it crashes on startup. is it worth me setting the cd drive up too and doing reinstall of windows?

If the old OS was installed while the SATA controller was in IDE mode, the default of new modern boards is AHCI.

This will cause a blue screen/failure.

As you are making quite a large change..do a fresh install.

thats got me back into.windows and now to test the gpu. still think you are right and the psu may be a problem for the new gfx card

still getting red gpu led with new gfx card in both pci e 16 slots
