systems a non starter

So i just built this system with parts from the members market and whilst it starts, it just beeps and nothing appears on screen.

The motherboard is a Sapphire Crossfire Xpress 3200 PC-A9RD580adv here

Now this motherboard has an 8pin power connection which i havnt seen before (usually 4 pin) and the power supply being used doesnt have the 8pin connector. Putting 2 and 2 together im guessing this is the reason that theres a red led on the motherboard with "5VSB-led" lit up?

GPU is an x800gto and cpu is an opty 150

Any ideas ?

Also is it correct that the gpu is in the master pci-e slot as i've never used a crossfire board or wont it matter

bump.

i'm gonna try a different psu but i cant see that being the problem as this one powers on fine. also gonna try the otehr pci-e slot for the gpu.

Can i use the 4 pin power connector in the 8 pin power connector slot ? ? ?? ?

how you mean? i dont think it matters which vga/dvi port you use but this has one of each so ill try both tomorrow

tried a different psu and still no joy, the 5vsb light on the motherboard stays red when powered on and still no output from the vga :confused:

ok i'm still stumped on this.

Would it be wise to buy a atx2.x psu that has all the correct connectors and not try to use the 4 pin plug as im getting no where with this and cant think why
