Was going about my business surfing the web, computer just hangs all of a sudden. I had to hard reset, really dont like doing that however during boot the backup BIOS in my P67A UD5 overwritten the main BIOS.

Haven't really done anything to cause this im quite confused.

After computer boots into 7 not long after it would just hang after about 5 mins or when doing a task.

Im not sure whats going on but my thoughts saying could my board be screwed?

So the backup bios over wrote the main bios and you lost your settings?

Could this delay the initial first boot? Not sure. Have you now rebooted successfully with no delay once loaded?

Could well be your harddrive causing hangs.

Hi,

Yes thats correct, it overwrote the main BIOS, lost all settings. Luckily overclock settings are written down.

I have rebooted successfully, however when i try and do a task, such as check emails system hangs causing me to do a hard reset once again.

If it was the board would it even boot? Not sure what the hell is going on here.

Im thinking now, could this be the SSD? Computer is booting fine now, but hanging about 15 minutes when idle or doing simple tasks.

Is there anyway to check integrity of the SSD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure tbh. Might need someone else to chime in.

Bound to be a chkdsk type program you can run from cd/usb

To me it does sound like a disk issue, mobo is probably fine if it gets booted.

Can you run IBT/prime at all?

Also run memtest too. That'll give you some confidence it's disk related and not mobo/ram

if it recovered the main bios with the backup then the main bios is getting corrupted somehow

you can spam alt and f12 at gigabyte splash screen, this will flash both the main and backup bios with the main bios version so both chips are running one version of bios,be sure to update to latest bios first, then alt and f12 to flash both chips

Hi guys

Can only run programs such as prime, or anything really for about 15 - 20 mins then the system will hang. It will hang for about 10 mins blue screen then reboot, it will then give the message "Boot disk failure please insert CD/DVD to continue" However if i hard reset after that, windows will boot again?

Forgot to mention while the system is hanging the hard drive LED on my case is totally still, not flashing or anything, while all this is going on. Its pointing towards an SSD failure to me but will re-update BIOS to F8 (as its now back to F2) and try the methods you guys mentioned and will get back to you.

EDIT: Cannot flash BIOS to current F8 version, using a USB drive formatted to FAT32, i keep getting "invalid BIOS image" in the Flash Utility, im also using the correct revision for my board R1.
Really stuck now, ive came to a halt.

Thanks
