I have seen in several places that the SYY 157 or whatever it is paste is meant to be really good.
Then again so is Kryonaut, but a slight mis mount and its terrible, pump out can mean it's maintenance cycle is a pain, oh and if you hit 80c+ it starts failing on you. Can attest to these things with my PS4 Pro, though I have managed to get it to work stably atm.
Anyway, I had to shim my laptop heatsink because it had a strange pad attached to the coldplate face and a "pro" removed it. Personally I have no idea if you should just apply paste over that pad or remove it to paste. I digress, the guy balls'd up big time and I had to do it myself and void warranty anyway. Boo, hiss.
I found without that pad I had bugger all mounting pressure and I have had to shim it (0.5mm) and now it actually seems to work better.
Has anyone used SYY long term on any device and can give a decent review of performance?
Up to now I haven't had any issues, though the 5800H in my laptop does like to get hot anyway.
