Hi there,

currently typing this from my laptop using a datacard with t-mobile sim and unlimited data bundle.

t-mobile have had msn blocked for a long time. i was wondering if there was a way to configure a standalone client (live or equivilent) to use a different port/protocol to get it to connect to the msn network.

webmsn clients work fine so there must be a installable (non flash, low cpu/gpu usage client) that can be changed to use the web based protocols/ports to access the network?

any help would be appreciated. thanks

In Pidgin you can go to edit accounts, and in the Advanced tab there's an option to "Use HTTP method" with the default server of gateway.messenger.hotmail.com. I've never had to use it but it might get round their port blocking?

to be honest i think they are just blocking traffic from msn's servers. i get a Notification Server: Reading Error when using HTTP method in pidgin.

anyone else got any ideas. i dont understand how a web version will work AND the version installed on my phone will work.

Just to see if it was msn.. i tried AIM and GoogleTalk too. both do the same thing. im guessing that im not going to be able to get a installed version of anything working which is a pain.

ALL e versions of the clients work fine ebuddy, iloveim etc etc all work but they're flashy and use lots of cpu which is a big strain on a laptop battery

StevenG - guess i'll just have to live with ebuddy then..
