About 12 months ago a company called tri-mobile communications called to my door with offers on mobile phones from T-Mobile (contract only). Now the guy who was explaining things said that i would £14.95 every month from when i recieved the phone untill the contratc was up. He also said that it was a 12 month contract i would be signing up for. So i signed abit of paper and gave my bank details so that they could direct debit the bill for the phone out every month. I got a sony Ericisson 700ki and about 3 months after having it, it got stole so i had to go back to my old phone which was a nokia 3510(the one that has orange lights at the side of it  ). I had no insurance on the sony phone and couldnt afford to buy a new top of range phone at the time. So i decided to wait until i could upgrade again when my contract finished.

So after six months of of paying the 14.95, my payments then changed to 40.00 each month, with the price plan still being the same. I think its called relax plan 200 free minutes. I rang T-Mobile up and asked them what was going on and they said it was half price line rental for only 6 months. So i accepted this. I rang up yesterday to ask when my contract finished which should have been this month and upgrade time, but only to find out that im on an 18month contract. So i was pretty Pee'd off. That company screwed me. And i was stupid enough to accept the bloody phone so i wont be allowing any companies to my door again selling phones.

Ok so what i want to know is were does this leave me, can i cancel my contract with t-mobile without having to pay them anything because i dont want to be stuck with this crap phone for another 6 months???

In a word NO, you can cancel your contract but you'll have to buy the rest of it out £240 is a lot of money - best bet buy a cheap phone on t-mobile PAG and use that.

Also lesson to learn, always read the small print!

Had a similar situation with a 3 contract phone, 1500 texts and ?? x-network minutes for only £15 a month - the sales guy at no point when disscussing the phones that were available told me that the £15 was half price for 6 months and that the 1500 texts and ?? minutes were for the first 3 months only after which it was only something like 100 texts and 20 minutes. Glad i always mull things over befor jumping in otherwise i could have been in fix!

Yep, gots to make sure you read the contract, but the guy sounded like a bonehead if he actually lied to you about the contract :(

Thanks for the replies. £240 is a lot of money, can i switch my price plan to the cheapest one then cancel my contract by buying it out for the cheapest amount of money??

Highly unlikely.
Most mobile operators don't want you doing this as they need to make the cost of the phone back from you over the terms of the contract.
Example being:

I see a phone I like and on a £40 a month contract it is free.
On a £20 a month contract it is lets say £150.
I take it on the £40 a month contract and get it for free, get home and then change down to the £20 a month contract....

Because so many people used to abuse the system in this way most will no longer allow you to change down until your initial contract is up with them.
