Hey guys,

I'm on T-Mobile and I'm finding the data network to be exceedingly slow. Before I ring them and whine a bit, can someone here just confirm to me the apn details for them? Just in case I've typed those in wrong and end up looking an idiot!

Cheers!

Are you able to connect to 3G/HSDPA?

I'm having nothing but problems with T-mobiles network since I got my Desire S. It fails to connect to 3G regardless of where I am. I'm in places were I should be guaranteed 3g signal (ie Belfast) but it refuses to pick any up!

The tech support said that there is zero 3g signal anywhere in Belfast and that I would be lucky to pick up 2g let alone 3g.

I'm not really sure how I'd find out tbh, if I'm connected to 3G or 2G. anyone know if the icon changes on an Android?

See I knew T-Mobiles Belfast signal is crappy, but I was sold on the premise that they use Orange masts where the T-Mobile network isn't great, and given that the Orange Belfast signal is decent, I dodnt think there would be a problem.

Yeah, just G. I might have a go at bitching down the phone at CS, see if I can get a discount, its so terribly slow compared to the vodafone contract I was on previously..

At last! Someone who knows my pain! :)

There must be a network problem in Northern Ireland that is not allowing 3g. It's annoying because there are no physical T-Mobile stores in the country, so I have had to explain the problem everytime I call the CS.

It's daft because the online checker says we should be able to get 3g in most areas. Also, looking at T-Mobiles wiki page, they teamed up with 3 a few years ago to share their 3g masts to boost coverage. So in theory, anywhere where I got a 3g signal when i was with 3, then I should get it with T-Mobile.

Extremely frustrating.

I've been speaking to T-Mobile the last few weeks to try and get the issue sorted. Basically what they've now told me, flat out, is that I wont get 3G coverage in Belfast, or HDPSA. At all. Which is contrary to what their own Street check map is telling me. Its lists "Moderate" for 3G coverage over all Belfast.

Time to lodge a formal complaint I think, as they want to charge me £350ish to cancel my contract, which I took on the basis that the information they were giving me was accurate. :(

Don't really see what else I can do. Max internet speeds I can get while out and about are 0.30kbps and a 1 second ping, which is frankly useless as it means websites time-out before they even load. Crappy kind of situation to have on a decent smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S II. :/ Indoors I couldn't care less, I have wifi.

Right lads, this is for anyone who's still having trouble with T-Mobile in N.Ireland.

With the Orange Data merger being complete in Northern Ireland, your phone should switch its data connection over to Oranges automatically if its got bad signal with T-Mobile. However I've found that mine will not do this if its even getting just plain 2G signal from T-Mobile, even if theres a 3G or H data signal from Orange available.

So, goto your Network settings, and change your Operator over to "T-Mobile Orange", and keep it on that. There's no point in Using the T-Mobile operator listed there, it's useless.

Enjoy good 3G coverage! :)

I'll definitely not be re-subbing with T-Mobile in future, bad data coverage here, Data coverage maps on their website that are an outright lie, bad support regarding the issue & I've had them hang up on me when I was calling about it in the past. Not be getting my money in future. ಠ_ಠ
