I am due to change my phone contract in a month or so, currently with O2 on a 300 minutes and 750 texts per month. Problem with O2 is I have a smartphone and could really use the 3G functionalitly to keep in check with emails, remote desktop to work machines but O2 only give 1MB / month free and charge £3 for every other MB I go over so I can't use it at the moment.

Looking on the T-Mobile site they seem to offer free data connections on some pay montly contracts (Limits of 1GB per month but I will never use that much)

Any catches on this? Doesn't seem a bad deal, £37.50/month for £180's worth of texts and minutes ( about 600 of each ) and totally free data!

what you're referring to is T-Mobiles Web N Walk. I've just switched to T-Mobile myself to make full use of my N95. I can highly recommend them.

Yep as long as you get the premium Web n Walk packge.
I doubt it much if I have the premium one, my contract is over 12 years old (after 7 free unlimited), I don't know if that one is classed as the Premium contract.

Can someone confirm that Skype is one of the services that is available on T-mobile?
